Poetry

Somewhere, somehow, some of us found the time to exercise the other half of our brains.

Vice or Versus
by Chris Kitts

"Vice or versus" is the question,
Amy asked in my direction.
Why is it that I choose vice,
When versus clearly will suffice?

Could it be that I am lazy?
Two letters saved, does that sound crazy?
But if typing's such a chore,
Why not "vs" and save two more?

Perhaps it's simply arbitrary.
The one I use at times does vary.
Vice versus versus, also said
Vice vice versus, this hurts my head!

Perhaps it's other meanings given,
By the words as they are written.
Vices are just ugly habits,
Versus connotates combatants.

To wrap this up, I will not lie,
I choose vice and don't know why.
Simply put, I'll say it thrice,
I prefer vice, vice, and vice.

Waiting
by Amy Slaughterbeck

A promise was made.
Yet now my hopes do fade.
The battery info is what I crave.
This pico is my new fave.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.
My patience fading, fading, fading.
This tardiness of Chris is quite a shock.
To other sources I may flock.

Crucial to my research, this info is.
You wouldn't want to see our project go up in a fizz.
Manganese, alkaline, lithium,
What can you tell me about 'em?

Let's bring this info in.
After all, slacking is not a sin.
Yet still, I am waiting, waiting, waiting.
My patience fading, fading, fading.

Response to Waiting
by Chris Kitts

Your poetry is quite impressive,
The words and phrases so intensive,
The theme of verse was so expressive,
You want the info I possessive?

But wait, you must, 'till afternoon,
That's not a week, or 'till next moon,
I need a reference of mine,
I'll try to find it, double time!

Sensor Haiku
by Michael Swartwout

As for poetry,
Haiku is my medium;
My words do not rhyme

Put one sensor there;
A different one goes here.
Who knows what we'll see?

Seuss on Mars
by Chris Kitts

Just discussed Mars' lack of communication with my good friend Dr. Seuss:

I said 'Mars won't write me,
she won't write me's what I said.
Seuss said 'Sure that she's still breathing?
She can't write you if she's dead.'

'I talked to her on Monday,
shamed her so bad that she bled!'
Doc said 'If there is no e-mail,
then there's nothing to be read.'

'If Mars won't take the time
to write a simple little note,
Then you'll have to write a message
so absurd it gets her goat.

Shame her, blame her, maim her
so she'll update you by rote.
You need to know that Artemis
ain't in a sinking boat.'
